Weekend!
WHAT IS VN (VIDA NUEVA)?
Vida Nueva ... is Spanish
for "New Life".
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself
through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation
The Vida Nueva movement is an ecumenical,
evangelical Christian experience weekend. It
encourages young adults to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and to live as Christians
leaders in their communities.
The weekend is an experience with Jesus Christ.
VN is a three-day weekend retreat spanning Friday evening through Sunday
afternoon.
It is a weekend of living in Christian community.
It embodies personal witness, but is not a revival meeting.
VN involves group dynamics, but is not group therapy.
The weekend employs Christian instruction, but is not a church school.
It does have follow-up activities, but is not a church substitute.
ABOUT THE WEEKEND:
The Vida Nueva weekend contains a series
of talks given by a volunteer team of young adults, adults, and clergy. The talks follow the basic themes of Christianity
in its day-to-day application, and are followed by table discussions.
Worship during the weekend is in the
Protestant tradition. Young men and women
from age 15 to 20 may attend a weekend and are held separately for both young men and
young women.
VN of Maine Weekends occurs in the Spring and Fall.
Young Mens weekends are traditionally in March and October and Young
Womens Weekends are traditionally in April and November. Weekends are held at Camp Mechuwana in Winthrop,
Maine.
SPONSORSHIP:
VN, like Tres Dias, requires sponsorship
of an adult or youth who has previously lived a Vida Nueva, Tres Dias, or equivalent 3-Day
Weekend (Cursillo, Walk to Emmaus, Happenings, etc.).
The cost of the weekend is $80. The Sponsor pays a $20 sponsor fee and the balance
of $60 is paid by the candidate. Scholarships
ARE available upon request.
